an anonymous fangirl? so you fangirl over the concept of anonymity. okay. have fun fangirling over every anonymous asshole on tumblr who hits up peoples’ inboxes with hate, because yes it is the same concept. Anonymous isn’t some cyber-genius group of internet vigilantes, it’s just an alias to stand behind.
In response to the image, I don’t see what the big deal is? There is no threat being made here. No course of action being discussed. It’s just the same shitty call to action that we’ve seen all over the internet. Do not put your faith in “Anonymous” to solve this problem for you. As users of the internet, we have to take it upon ourselves to try and prevent this. Contact your local representative and spread the word. Don’t rely on a faceless superhero that doesn’t exist.
Oh and DDoSing the DoJ isn’t going to get anything accomplished and that’s pretty much all that’s happened so far. For some reason, a large group of people on tumblr found that to be some sort of victory. However, just an hour or so later, everybody is up in arms over a fake link that runs a script to target the DoJ website. NEWSFLASH: IT’S THE SAME EXACT METHOD THAT WAS USED TO DDoS IT EARLIER. STOP BEING HYPOCRITES. That link was just a way to trick tumblr users into doing all the work after the 1337hax0r script assholes got tired of it.
Why am I even writing this much? Oh right because I have nothing better to do. Whatever. Point is, stop leaning on an imaginary hero and start trying to help yourself.
